Donations

Donations are the generous giving of a business to organisations that need help. The interesting fact is that few businesses are making donations and seldom give it much thought.

Donations are often used by big business as a marketing strategy.

The point is: recognise the needs in your community, try keep it local, and donate wisely.

There are also tax benefits to making donations. Donations to public benefit organisations are exempt from tax. Other client gifts to a maximum of R10 000 are exempt.

Wealth is not measured by how much you can get, but by how much you can give.

Enjoy the blessing of giving.

Personal Budget

A personal budget, yes the tedious exercise of working out personal monthly income and expenses. When did you last do a personal budget?

There are many tools to help us track our monthly expenditure. Banks for example categorise our payments. Make the most of these tools.

Prepare a simple spreadsheet of income less expenses. Spilt expenses up into essential, other and luxury. This exercise will help identify what the minimum amount you can live on. If hard financial times hit us in the face, our essential budget can kick in and other expenses will go on hold.

Budget to pay off all your debt. Implement a plan to resolve all debt and to stay out of debt.

Plan to save during good times. Over the next year or two, try to save at least three times your monthly salary. This savings will give you three months of recovery in hard times.

The two hours you spend today thrashing out a personal budget could save you years of hardship. Give it a try.

EMP501 Deadline

Today is the deadline for the EMP501 reconciliation. This reconciliation compares your payroll of salaries to what you have submitted and paid to the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

The reconciliation process can be complicated but Business Soul Accounting cc provides payroll outsourcing services to our clients which simplifies the process. We have found that running a proper payroll system on a monthly basis is more cost effective and efficient than trying to balance the payroll twice a year.

We have a smooth export facility from our payroll system directly into the SARS EasyfileTM system. This provides us with a consistent integration of payroll data throughout the system.

Business Soul Cloud, Windows Cloud Servers

The Business Soul Cloud is formed.
We are running Windows cloud servers, for business' needing to run Windows applications on a centralised server.

Why use a Business Soul Cloud, Windows cloud server?

Purchasing a physical server in house has many negatives. The astronomical price of a server, with a limited life span often deters business owners from setting up there networks correctly. This results in old slow computers in the office being used as a partial server for users to log into. The users soon become frustrated by the slow processor. This impacts negatively on work tasks and user experience.

A Business Soul Cloud, Windows hosted server, aims to reduce implementation costs and improve the user experience. The server size and speed are determined by your budget and software needs. We structure the server, allowing users to work in a centralised work flow environment.

With the dynamic Remote Services users can log on from the office or from home. The office does not need to be in a fixed place any longer. Business Soul Cloud could even save business and employees fuel costs.
Using good software on a good cloud server will improve the efficiency and performance of your business.

Salary Reconciliation

The employees tax EMP501 reconciliation is due to be submitted by the end of May 2012.

The process involves extracting the annual salaries of all employees, reviewing the PAYE, SDL and UIF calculations and then reconciling these to what has been submitted to the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

The Business Soul Accounting, Payroll Outsourcing provides monthly payslip and the automatic calculation of these amounts due to SARS. Our seamless integration into the Easyfile system allows for the accurate reconciliation of payroll.

The EMP501 reconciliation is currently a bi-annual submission. We expect this process will be needed monthly in future.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Growth

GDP for 2012 is expected to fall to 2.7 per cent. This is considerably low for the region which is expected to have growth of 5.5%. While 3.6 per cent is projected for 2013 which is still below par. We echo the sentiments of the Minister when he says "we are not doing well enough in growing our economy and creating jobs for our young people."

Financial Management and Combating Fraud
A point of the Minister was to mention that the efforts of public and government need to be improved to ensure that corruption is prevented and that the funding allocated is well spent.
He further raised that missmanagement needs to be dealt with, "It has been necessary to take steps to address financial management weaknesses that have undermined service delivery and put financial sustainability at risk in several provinces."

Working together

It is now time that we all realise that "haircuts" are necessary. We look forward to the public funds been spent as allocated, within the tightened budget framework. The support of the business sector, particularly small business in looking for opportunities to grow our space and thereby grow our economy is needed. The budget speech strategy is a long term plan. We should emulate our plans for the long term by implementing the changes now, that will benefit the country and our business in the long term.
